We’re Here To Help!

Evaluations

Evaluations using the TR-eat® model are intended to form a treatment plan and recommend further services. When children are having difficulty eating it can seem overwhelming to determine a treatment plan. The TR-eat®  model evaluates medical, behavioral, oral motor skill building and sensory sensitivities to determine how each is playing a role in the child’s feeding problem.

Individual consultation is also available for parents or therapists with children requiring feeding therapy. We can help establish a treatment plan that fits your specific needs.

Treatment

Feeding Treatment Using the TR-eat®  Model

Individual consultation is available for parents or therapists with children presenting with feeding challenges. Ongoing therapy may be recommended and we can help you find resources that will meet your needs.

Outpatient feeding therapy using a transdisciplinary model would typically be 1-3 times per week for 45-60 minute sessions. Outpatient interventions provide direct care for the child with the intention of teaching the parents how to implement the plan in the home setting. This is recommended for children with mild to moderate feeding difficulties. It is also useful to shape basic skills for children with severe feeding challenges to prepare for a more intensive type of treatment approach. Outpatient therapy might also be recommended following the intensive program to carry over progress and continue to build skill development.

Intensive feeding therapy using a transdisciplinary model typically includes a higher frequency of 3-4 therapy sessions each day concentrated into a brief period of consecutive weeks. Therapy may be offered daily up to 5 days per week for multiple weeks. Intensive therapy is appropriate for children with moderate to severe feeding difficulties, complex medical or social situations, or who live outside of commuting distance to a therapy location.

Customized Training

Rather than traveling long distances let us come to you…

We can provide training to your group on all or portions of our Mealtime Miseries course. Depending on your needs, we can tailor to your specific facility needs. Content can be adapted to specific treatment settings or unique patient populations. Choose from overview of the TR-eat®  model, lecture and video of therapy techniques and/or hands-on training. Opt for one or more days of concentrated learning.

For shorter training needs such as an in-service, breakout session, staff meeting or parent group, we can provide presentations ranging from 1-3 hours. Topics can vary from specific treatment techniques, unique patient populations or a more general overview of feeding therapy. This can be modified to meet the educational needs of parents or professionals.

Professional Consultation

Professional consultation is available for individual therapists or feeding teams regarding specific cases, specific treatment techniques, and/or business management practices for setting up a feeding program.

Individual training or team based education is offered to help with specific types of cases (i.e., picky eaters or children with autism) or to facilitate a better understanding of treatment techniques unique to the TR-eat® model (i.e., chewing or texture grading). This can be set up on site or through web based communication depending on your specific needs. We give our full attention to therapists and provide specific answers to your questions about how to implement TR-eat® model techniques.

Consulting services are available to help get your team started or back on the right track. We consult on all aspects of feeding therapy practice ranging from practice models to business structure. Setting up a feeding program can feel like a road less traveled. Our experience in this area provides a map to guide you. Choosing a practice model, selecting your team members, training staff members are just a few of the important decisions that will need to be made. Finances and billing structure are key components to the long term success of your program. Setting up a data collection and warehousing process will help your practice demonstrate evidence-based outcomes. We also provide environmental assessment and consultation regarding the setup of the flow of treatment space specific to the needs of feeding therapy.
